The Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambéry sponsor three non-profit ministries, which were founded by our Sisters and are separately incorporated. We maintain a presence on their boards and with our support.

House of Bread (

Founded in 1980, the House of Bread provides food, transitional housing, shelter, and education to tens of thousands of men, women and children in Greater Hartford. The House of Bread soup kitchen provides food for 2,000 people a day,  as well as a Kid’s Cafe.

Jubilee House, an education center under the auspices of the House of Bread (

Founded in 1997, Jubilee House, a non-sectarian ministry of the House of Bread, provides a holistic literacy program for underserved adult learners in Greater Hartford with a focus on literacy and basic human needs, especially of refugees and immigrants.

Intensive Education Academy (

Founded in 1971, IEA offers a nurturing, small structured school for children with special needs, with an emphasis on building self-esteem in an environment that stimulates enthusiasm for learning.
